________
What is Dao Yin?
Dao Yin is an exercise system that integrates physical movement, with mindful focus and regulated breathing.
One of the essential aims of Dao Yin is to create flexibility of body and mind, in order to promote harmony between internal and external activity. This intended integration may help relax, replenish and rejuvenate the body and mind.
________
Yi Jin Jing (Muscle/Tendon Changing Classic)
Yi Jin Jing (Muscle/Tendon Changing Classic) is an exercise system that aims to: (i) strengthen the muscles and tendons, (ii) promote flexibility, (iii) develop strength and stamina, and (iv) improve balance & co-ordination.
Yi Jin Jing combines meditative focus, slow physical exercises, and coordinated breathing with gentle stretching movements. Many of the movements are linked to acupoints, and are intended to enhance a sense of wellbeing.
Tao Heart teaches a 12-posture movement set of Yi Jin Jing.
Each of the movements can be moderated and adjusted to suit individual abilities.
Tai Chi
*** NEW Class Starting February/March 2025 ***
Immortals Crossing the Sea: Thursdays 10:30 - 11:30am
Tai Chi has low impact; slow, soft repetitive movements which can help bring about a state of mental calm, while improving body awareness, balance, flexibility and suppleness. Tai Chi movements emphasise spinal alignment, co-ordinated sequential movement, work a variety of different muscles, and can strengthen joints, ligaments, and tendons by working towards improving flexibility and range of motion.
Immortals Crossing the Sea Tai Chi Form is as created by Master Joe Lok of the Natural Energy Academy (Hong Kong). This Form is influenced by Wudang and Chen Tai Chi styles, and has 16 Stances, which are named with reference to the legends of the Eight Immortals.
Immortals Crossing the Sea is as developed by Master Joe Lok the 20th inheritor of Dragon Gate Taoist, and 27th inheritor of Wudang Sanfeng Natural. Master Joe Lok is the Founder of Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing, and Chair of the Natural Energy Academy (Hong Kong).
These exercises are relatively simple to learn, and when practised correctly and consistently, contain the potential to enhance physical health and a sense of wellbeing.
