*** NEW Class Starting January 2026 ***

Dao Yin Arts

Dao Yin Qigong Exercises: Tuesdays 10:30 -11:30am

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is a holistic health practice that integrates short sequences of gentle movements, meditation, and co-ordinated breathing, with the intention of cultivating a sense of 'Qi' (Chi), 'circulating life force', mind/body harmony and wellbeing.

________

What is Dao Yin?

Dao Yin is an exercise system that integrates physical movement, with mindful focus and regulated breathing.

One of the essential aims of Dao Yin is to create flexibility of body and mind, in order to promote harmony between internal and external activity. This intended integration may help relax, replenish and rejuvenate the body and mind.

________

Dao Yin Arts

This Qigong Class will focus on a 12-movement set of Dao Yin (Way of Stretching) routines.

These gentle mindful exercises are relatively simple to learn, and when practised correctly and consistently, contain the potential to enhance physical health and a sense of wellbeing.

This 12-Movement Qigong set will be taught gradually building familiarity with the series, adding new movement skills and related acupressure concepts. This set is comprised of a series of linked movements rather than a continuous sequence therefore classes are independently accessible - new participants are welcome to join at any time.

These Dao Yin Qigong exercises will be taught from the beginning - previous knowledge and experience of Qigong or Tai Chi is not essential.

These exercises reference meridian pathways and acupressure points within the body.

Each of the movements can be moderated and adjusted to suit individual abilities.

Tai Chi Qigong

*** Ongoing - NEW participants are welcome ***

Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing: Thursdays 10:30 - 11:30am

Tai Chi has low impact; slow, soft repetitive movements which can help bring about a state of mental calm, while improving body awareness, balance, flexibility and suppleness. Tai Chi movements emphasise spinal alignment, co-ordinated sequential movement, work a variety of different muscles, and can strengthen joints, ligaments, and tendons by working towards improving flexibility and range of motion.

The 16 stances of Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing create a movement sequence or 'Form' that has a flow and grace similar to Tai Chi, but is considered to be a Qigong practice with the shared characteristics of integrating sequences of gentle movements, with mindful calm focus, and regulated breathing.

Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing  Tai Chi Qigong Form is as created by Master Joe Lok of the Natural Energy Academy (Hong Kong). This Form has 16 Stances, taught through a two-part method; beginning with symmetrical Foundation Exercises, which are then built into postures and sequential movements.

Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing  is as developed by Master Joe Lok the 20th inheritor of Dragon Gate Taoist, and 27th inheritor of Wudang Sanfeng Natural. Master Joe Lok is the Founder of Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing, and Chair of the Natural Energy Academy (Hong Kong).

These exercises are relatively simple to learn, and when practised correctly and consistently, contain the potential to enhance physical health and a sense of wellbeing.
